Ah the Atari Lynx – the big handheld that should have done better. You don’t really hear arguments disputing its power like you might with some other Atari systems, it was pretty much the power king of the 90s. But that didn’t win the masses over from the Game Boy and it’s game selection.

Like every other Atari game system there are homebrew developments for it and here is one that is based upon the original survival horror game Alien for the Commodore 64. It is often forgotten how Alien was a trailblazer for the SH genre way back in 1984. Even though it wasn’t a graphical masterpiece by any means it was loaded with the tension that any good imagination can throw into hyperdrive, making it an excellent experience. As this video shows, there are graphics that fit to the original but also some enhanced mode graphics to take advantage of a few of the Lynxes features. It is a quite different from the never released Alien Vs. Predator game that Atari had been working on for the system.

This video shows the final build which will likely be uploaded to AtariAge for free here in the next day or so. About 8 min in is where it really starts to show the game.
