Any current Dreamcast fans are most likely going to be shooter(shmup) fans at this point. For whatever reason, the system has attracted many new developments in this genre, as opposed to those games coming to some newer platform. I kind of have the feeling that this is where the WiiU might be 10 years from now but either way, here is some news about a new title coming to the Dreamcast next year by the name of The Ghost Blade. It is being sold by Hucast Games, which has offered some DC support for a while now. Here is the trailer:

Some of the features:

Game Features

3 Game Modes with 3 player ships too choose from.

Screen Orientation

TATE (“3:4”) and YOKO (“4:3”)

Game Modes

Stage Mode: 5 Stages

Caravan Mode: 2 min./5 min.

Time Attack

I am curious for any DC owners out there, are you happy with the releases put out to the console since its death years ago or would you prefer a focus on other types of genres?

About Shaggy

I addition to my professional work in the arcade industry which has ranged from operator to consultant, I like to write about other subjects that interest me as well...if I can find the time.

I’m happy with almost any new game being released on DC and I enjoy playing good shmups. Nothing to complain when you get quality games like Sturmwind. There had been some other nice DC releases like Fast Striker, Gun Lord and Rush Rush Rally Racing. With Pier Solar HD and Elysian Shadows there will be two full-scale JRPGs, Scourge will be a 3rd-person action adventure and FPS-fans will surely be happy with Hypertension and SLaVE. Maybe Watermelon will even port their 16-bit-projects and Senileteam is currently at least working on Age of the Beast. DC is alive and kicking!
